Cult: a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
Alright, lets examine the definition of Cult: "A religion or sect considered to be false..."
Well, if you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you might believe that the church is false and therefore say that the church is a cult. In that case, if every religion had at least one person in the world believe it was false (and each religion has many), that would make all religions a cult, not just the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"... Unorthodox..."
Unorthodox means to break away from tradition. If you considered "Mormonism" to be a cult because of this, then you would also have to consider most protestant religions cults, considering that they all broke away from the Catholic church, and left a vast majority of the traditions behind them.
To consider "Mormon" doctrine or practices to be extreme, or "Mormons" extreme would be to say that we take our religion to extreme levels. What would you mean by that? Show me something in LDS practices that has not been done in , at least, early Christianity.
"...with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader."
You might use the fact that the headquarters for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in Utah, and most anti-Mormons say that the majority of the members of the church live in Utah. What you have to realise here is that the church did not seclude themselves from society, now nor ever before. Society secluded themselves from the church. The reason Utah is "Mormon Central" is because the church and its members were forced to move. Members of the Church live all over the world. Church membership worldwide is more than 12 million, with over half of the members living outside the United States. Only 14 percent of the Church membership lives in Utah.  Also, to say that the church is a cult because of Charisma would also mean that you would have to include Catholicism as being a cult, Protestant churches to be cults, Hinduism, and Buddhism, Scientology, and many other religions, not just Mormonism.
To call mormonism a cult and use it as a way to deter others away from the church is a fraud to the one you are trying to "help," or so you call it. Just because you do not like or agree with the church does not mean you should make false statements.
